Fake Car Insurance Cards: How Easy Are They to Get?

As more drivers hit the road, fake car insurance cards are becoming a bigger problem. As auto insurance rises, many drivers, unfortunately, cannot afford to insure their vehicles. Many cities and towns do not have reliable mass transit systems, therefore, drivers often feel that they have no choice but to either purchase or design their own illegal insurance cards.

Sadly, however, there are those who try to scam auto owners out of their money by selling fake insurance cards as being properly obtained insurance coverage. For example, there have been documented cases in which drivers are paying monthly, for what they believe is car insurance. When they get into a car accident, however, and hand their proof of insurance over to the police, they quickly find out that the card is counterfeit.

DMVs across the country are amassing quite a few phoney insurance cards, when unsuspecting- or unscrupulous drivers- are attempting to register their vehicles using fake insurance cards. Many offices simply turn these drivers away, without pressing charges, although the cards are forwarding to an investigations unit, which begins the process of finding out who is responsible.

So, how can you avoid being a victim? One of the best ways to avoid being victimised is to deal with a reputable insurance agency, directly. While there are many good insurance agents out there, there are also many shady ones as well. If you think that you are being sold a fraudulent card, contact your local law enforcement agency immediately.

Sadly, until mass transit is improved, many drivers will feel the need to forge their own insurance cards. However, using common sense can help you avoid being ripped off.
